A Brief History of Knox Energy Cooperative
In April of 1998, a group of civic-minded community leaders from Apple Valley Lake formed the Knox Energy Cooperative Association, Inc. (Knox Energy). It was created for the purpose of providing natural gas service to the lake community after many failed attempts to obtain service from the local utility companies over several years. Knox Energy successfully contracted with Utility Pipeline Ltd for engineering, construction and operational services to provide natural gas as well as financing without additional mandatory community fees or assessments. After meetings and discussions with the residents of Apple Valley and a voluntary membership drive, the new natural gas pipeline system was installed and service to members on the west side of the lake began in January of 1999.
